Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has officially opened its new 122-room hotel and event center at Terre Haute Casino Resort. The new addition to the Indiana property is set to add additional vibrancy to the complex.
CDI broke ground on the entertainment venue in June 2022 in partnership with construction specialist Wilhelm Construction. The development of the Terre Haute Casino Resort generated approximately 1,000 construction jobs and will continue to generate roughly 550 full-time and part-time jobs in the region.
The Terre Haute Casino Resort casino floor opened earlier this year, offering visitors 400,000 square feet of gaming space packed with 1,000 slot machines, 36 gaming tables and a cutting-edge sportsbook.
In addition, visitors can enjoy a variety of regionally inspired food and beverage amenities including the Four Cornered Steakhouse, Rockwood Bar & Grill, The Soda Shoppe, Crossroads Center Bar and High Limit Bar.
The addition of the new 122-room hotel and event center will make the casino more accessible than ever, allowing CDI to channel even more fans toward its property.

CDI’s chief executive officer, Bill Carstanjen, commented on the matter, saying that the venue will continue to attract thousands of players who wish to enjoy an “unparalleled gaming experience.”

In other news, Churchill Downs recently refurbished its flagship racetrack, completing the works just ahead of this year’s edition of the Kentucky Derby. The renovation cost Churchill Downs some $200 million and took three years to complete.
Now, the racetrack offers a much better view of the track’s signature twin spires as well as more seats that allow it to accommodate more fans than ever.
For context, this year’s Kentucky Derby was won by Mystik Dan and jockey Brian Hernandez Junior in one of the closest races in the racetrack’s history. The horse, which was trained by Kenneth G. McPeek, finished the race in two minutes and three seconds. Of note, no horses trained by Bob Baffert participated in the race since the controversial trainer remained suspended.
In April, Churchill Down posted its Q1 results, highlighting an exceptional start to the year.
